Woodside

Welcome to Woodside

Hi my name is Helen Taylor and I am your local Defence Special Needs Coordinator for the Woodside area.

Woodside is a small town in the Adelaide Hills and is approximately 45 minutes from Adelaide.  The major Defence establishment in the area is Woodside Barracks.  The Base was originally established in 1927 and was used for the training of light horse and  infantry units.  During the Second World War, battalions of the Second  Australian Military Force were formed.  The Base also provided temporary accommodation for US Forces.  Woodside Barracks is now the home of the 16 Air Defence Regiment.

For families posted into the Woodside area, services and supports can be limited depending on where you choose your Service Residence.  For more information, please give us a call.

Our group holds regular coffee mornings and family events and by linking in to us, you have access to the wider support, information and assistance that is available throughout our network.  For more information about the area have a look at the handy 'Welcome to South Australia' booklet compiled by DCO.

Please give me a call on 0404 066 384 or email me to find out what else we are doing and to go on our mailing list.

Fabulous Family Outings - South Australia

Motherhood the Musical - Saturday 3rd December 8.00pm @ The Space Theatre, Adelaide Festival Centre

From the producers of the smash-hit Menopause The Musical® comes the Australian Premiere of an equally hilarious, musical journey about the lives and friendships of four very different mums sharing their humorous insights into the challenges of motherhood. There's Barb, an over-worked, underpaid, stressed-out mother of five; Brooke, the lawyer, who works too much and barely sees her kids, Trisha, a single mum struggling to balance work, her family and her divorce and finally Amy, the naive young woman about to have her first child.

Having received rave reviews following its opening in October 2010 in the USA and the UK, this musical written by award-winning singer/songwriter Sue Fabisch, features 20 sensational songs including her Top 10 Billboard Comedy hit “The Kids Are Finally Asleep”. You'll love this joyous musical journey as it takes a loving and funny look at the blessings and the perils of being a Mum. This is all about laughing and crying, craziness and calm, smiles and tears, all wrapped up into 90 minutes of great musical entertainment. A must see for anyone who is, has, or knows a Mum.

This is an adult event only - Mums in particular are encouraged to come along (but you can bring the hubby too).

To book your tickets, please contact Margaret in the National Office on 1800 037 674.  Ticket prices TBA.
